Bordeada al norte por la Reserva Natural Nacional de la Bahía de Somme, la estación balnearia de Le Crotoy es uno de esos destinos que (casi) ya no se presentan, tan populares son. Situado en el departamento de Somme, al norte de los acantilados de Cayeux-sur-Mer y Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme, Le Crotoy está clasificado entre los pueblos más bellos de Francia. Aquí, la naturaleza es la reina: es la naturaleza la que es el principal activo del resort. La naturaleza. Y qué hermoso es allí! Para un perfecto descubrimiento del Crotoy y de su flora preservada, diríjase al magnífico Parque del Marquenterre, situado en el corazón del Parque Natural de la Bahía de Somme. Entre la tierra y el mar, este gigantesco pantano de más de 200 hectáreas tachonado de cañaverales y dunas es uno de esos lugares únicos donde el hombre parece no haber alterado el esplendor de los panoramas. Equipado con botas (para vadear en el barro o en la arena mojada, es más práctico), este majestuoso sitio le seducirá por el esplendor y la inmensidad de sus paisajes. ¿Familia? Sólo podemos aconsejarle que visite el Parque Ornitológico del Marquenterre. Inmenso refugio al aire libre para más de 300 especies de aves migratorias, llena la curiosidad de pequeños y mayores gracias a sus 3 rutas de visita salpicadas con 12 puestos de observación, donde se pueden observar paseriformes, patos, garzas, gaviotas, pequeñas zancudas, espátulas blancas, aves de presa, gansos grises y cigüeñas según la época del año. Empuje su visita justo delante del Crotoy, en el lado de la Pointe du Hourdel: si el lugar se presta a un paseo, es sobre todo conocido por albergar toda una colonia de focas grises y crías de mar, fácilmente observable durante todo el año.
Además de su innegable lado verde, la burbuja de oxígeno que es Le Crotoy es también un destino marcado por la historia. Punto de partida de toda una flota de barcos de Guillermo el Conquistador durante su conquista de Inglaterra en el siglo XI, la ciudad fue primero inglesa y luego francesa durante la Guerra de los Cien Años. Embellecida con una fortaleza en 1340, se convirtió en un importante destino para los baños de mar desde principios del siglo XIX, atrayendo bajo sus sombrillas a figuras ilustres como Julio Verne, Toulouse-Lautrec, Victor Hugo y Pierre Guerlain, entre otros. Visite la iglesia Saint-Pierre y su torre del siglo XIII, pero también los restos de las antiguas murallas, las villas de la Belle-Époque decoradas con bow-windows (como la Villa Marguerite, la Maison Millevoye...), dé un paseo por el puerto pesquero, alrededor de los estanques de la Bassée, para finalmente pasear por el paseo marítimo que recorre las playas de la estación.
Verdadero patio de recreo al aire libre para los niños y los aficionados al deporte, las playas de arena fina de Le Crotoy son ideales tanto para sus escapadas gastronómicas para disfrutar de un helado o de unas patatas fritas de mejillones frente al mar, como para burbujear al sol. También son muy conocidos por los deportistas que vienen en número a nadar, a navegar (a menudo hay viento en la zona), pero también a hacer surf, remo o kitesurf!
